Side Challenge!: I've seen Slen around several times. He's always skulking about Zombie Survival servers. Each interaction I've had with him has been a lovely blend of 'fun' and 'mysterious'. It's always a pleasure to RP with him, if you can find him in the first place!

Name: My real name is Elliot

Age: I'm 23 years old!

Occupation: Right now I'm taking care of my health, and being a general slave to this server.

About Me: I first found interest in Dungeons and Dragons when I was 8 years old. I remember seeing my mom playing Neverwinter Nights and I asked her if I could watch. I would watch her play through the campaign in awe, watching her slay monsters I'd never dream up myself. It inspired me greatly, and my mom took notice. After about a week of my watching her play, I came home from school to find that she had bought me my own copy of the game. I didn't get into it straight away, as she had also made the mistake of buying me the highly addictive 'World of Warcraft' to which I sold my soul to. However Neverwinter Nights grabbed my attention almost instantly, though I didn't have interest in the campaign. I was interested in Roleplaying. So, my mother brought me onto my first server and taught me the ropes - and luckily she had a group of really nice friends. One of them being Ghost4Life. He really taught me much of what I know about roleplaying, and I have him to thank for showing me that I could be a part of a community of nerds who were all caring and kind - and willing to teach an 8 year old child how to play the game. I was hooked instantly, and played a few servers until I was about 10 years old.

For a while my family went through some serious troubles, and I had to let go of my little community. I completely lost connection with everyone I'd gotten to know. I focused mostly on school and getting through the day-to-day. When I turned 14 I experienced a trauma that pushed me to stop speaking to people. I wouldn't leave the house, and I refused to speak to anyone that wasn't my close family. I kind of got into a shell that I couldn't find myself breaking out of. I remember I was helping my mother clear out some boxes, and I found my old copy of NWN. The case was a bit broken, but the disc still worked. So, I downloaded it again. Instantly a Zombie Survival caught my eye, and I joined up. It wasn't long until I had met some friends I now consider my family. A few hops later - and a couple of years - and I was playing a fresh relaunch of a Zombie Survival I got to DM for.

I remember a month after launch we had a big group of people join the server, who had played the original Dark Hour. I was extremely nervous, because this was my first real time getting to be a Dungeon Master, and not just a player. The people that joined were nice, if a little quiet at first. I was roaming around on DM handing out a bit of RP exp when I got a message in the DM channel asking about preforming necromancy. So, I ran the two an event that lead to the main safehouse (Kalaram Boarded Home) being completely destroyed. The two messaged me after and mentioned how much fun it was, and how unique the experience felt because they'd not gotten to experience doing an event focused on necromancy. It was a nice moment, but I moved on from it and didn't really speak to that group for a while. Not until one day, a week or so down the line, one of the necromancers sent a rather 'forward' tell to the DM channel...

"Can one of you DM CUNTS help me out please? "

Some of my less-than-pleased co-DM's were.. let's just say they weren't pleased. However I thought it was extremely funny, and the absolute strangest way anyone has ever tried to ask for help before. So I was the one to respond.

"DM Cunt reporting for duty. How can I help?"

We spent the entire day talking to each other, and just generally hanging out. I remember I stayed up until about 6-7am just talking to them, and having a fun time. So Dark Hour introduced me to my best friend then, who would get me through my hardest times. Eventually, we would get engaged and start up a remastered Dark Hour with me several years later.

When we moved in together I didn't really have any goals. I was lost, and had just had a huge falling out with my family back home. Nik inspired me to just do what makes me happy, so I started writing. It hasn't gone anywhere, and I'm still learning every day. But Dark Hour and Neverwinter Nights sort of pushed me to follow that path.

Also less interesting things about me, I guess. I love making coffee, and would probably try to own a coffee shop if this whole writing thing didn't work out. I also have a cat named Noodle who is a serial killer (sorry bird lovers).

Oh, and my favourite colour is mint.

Oh! About my name.. People tend to ask me why my name is Gloomy, though some guess it I guess I'll just give a tidbit. I was just sitting at my computer while Nik put up the server for the first time and I genuinely couldn't decide what I wanted to call myself this time around. I was feeling down, due to clinical depression, and decided on Gloomy. That's about it. I'm just a depressed nerd~

Why I have stayed: Well, I believe that you choose your family. Who you were born with isn't always who you're meant to call family. I made my family, through the people I met within NWN. I met my best friend and partner here, and great people who have helped me through the impossible. I love telling stories, and being around the people I love. People who have always accepted me for who I am, no matter what that happens to be. I guess I've stayed because I just love Neverwinter Nights. I love roleplaying, and I love the people I get to interact with - as well as learning all of their stories. Each character I run into is a web of investment. Of time and planning and dedication. I love learning what people come up with, and all of it, I guess. I know I'm a huge cheese ball, but it's true. This server has been the best community I've ever seen. Yeah, running this place is stressful. It's a lot of work. But every moment is worth it to see such a dedicated, kind, and absolutely beautiful community. When I put this up it was because I wanted a chance to remember the moments I met the most important people in my life.. and now I've met so many new people, and friends. I never thought it would get this big, but I'm glad I got the chance to meet the people I have.

About Me: I'm a straight up nerd about just everything, I like Star Wars to an unhealthy degree, alongside majoring my obsession with rp in pnp dnd, larping, and nwn! I enjoy reading, and I have read quite a large collection of series, my favorites however have to be the inheritance series and the Butlerian Jihad Trilogy for the dune series. I probably spend too much of my life on my computer, but that's most of us amiright? I have been diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder with psychotic features (basically mimics schizophrenic effects on a minor scale when the highs and lows of bipolar get too bad), Depression (mostly represented in my Bipolars choice to keep me consistently depressed), Anxiety, And Gender Dysphoria. I have a job which I am a slave too when I'm not gaming on my computer, or enjoying the rare times I do stuff with friends, EXCEPT for my weekly pnp DnD sessions which ive been playing since i was about 9 years old, for nearly every weekend since till now. I discovered it because my dad has a literal library of DnD material, and one day I opened a book in there, and it led me to the nerd I am now. I enjoy gaming on all consoles, though mostly do PC. I've played on probably at least half of all nwn servers to have ever existed, as i've been playing nwn since I was 11 about, so 9, almost 10 years, and i've made a point of exploring as many servers as I could- though the ones i've stuck too have been the many generations of ZSR and Dark Hour, EfU, PoTM, CoA, Arabel, KoN, NaoM, SPL (Sigil planar legends), And various star wars servers, and for a brief time sinfar (but we dont talk about those days).

I play quite a few MMO's including Dungeons and Dragons Online, Rising Force Online, for a brief period WoW, in my youth, runescape, Star Wars The Old Republic, along with many I no longer play and cannot remember the names of. actively only playing DDO and RF Online currently for MMO's.

As to preference for video games, either science fiction, or fantasy (Examples: Skyrim, Dragon Age, Kotor (1+2), various star wars games, the mass effect series 1-3, Baldurs Gate (1+2), various anime themed games (Ex: Naruto), Legends of Dragoon) though i've played games of probably almost every single genre, I am just a gamer, its what I do.

My favorite color is purple, if I had to choose a second it would be green (because purple+green is amazeballs combo), my passion in life is oriented around culinary arts, I very thoroughly adore cooking and study it on my own time extensively, and plan to go for further education on it, my favorite things to cook and what i'm best at are probs Italian food, and breakfast of any kind, though im hardly incapable of cooking a wide variety of things at this point. I thoroughly enjoy the Rave scene, and punk+gothic styles and cultures.

I have had a past of drug addiction, but i've overcome it every time it's occurred in my life. I adore colored hair, tattoo's (clever, or meaningful ones mostly) , piercings are a solid maybe depending on the type. And as to music, i pretty much at this point enjoy every genre out there, i have music from every single one that I enjoy, though my favorite music types definitely have to be metal, electronic (of nearly any kind), classical music, theme music, retro, and video game themes. I am definitely a fan of anime, however I don't watch it extensively (mostly due to lack of time id rather spend gaming! Though my favorite has to be a mini series known as Angel Beats) And as to non-anime shows, I definitely love Game Of Thrones, Invader Zim, and Steven Universe.

Hmmm.. I love both cats and dogs, though always have felt closest to my adorable kitteh.

I probably enjoy THC more than I should, mostly through edibles, weed, and dabs (Strong supporting factor in overcoming my past drug addictions + treats my mental illnesses somewhat nicely, and helps me sleep, i have bad sleeping problems)

As to beverages, I enjoy soda, tea, coffee, energy drinks, pretty much almost any beverage, i'm big on beverages, though my favorites have to be tea and energy drinks.

I am a very big fan of art of most kinds (My own art is usually abstract), and visiting a art gallery is definitely in my list of fun things to do when I can. I love going to concerts, and I love arts and crafts.

I've had quite a large amount of hardships throw their way at me, family going into poverty, rising up from that, only to suffer from disloyalty among my parents to eachother which caused many issues. I have been hospitalized before to treat my Bipolar and other mental illnesses when it culminated in a near success suicide attempt. I've been addicted to two different drugs, despite trying many, and relapsed with those various times, though proud to say i've overcome them entirely now. I was raised in a hardcore christian and narrow viewed home while finally opening up about my Gender Dysphoria, and thus becoming Transgender at a later point, and Pansexual through most of that time, so keeping the peace with my family has been immensely difficult. I struggled through school, as I was not medicated during that time, so I am a Highschool Dropout, however, I did enroll in a program designed to get me an associates degree and my GED, which I completed the GED within the time allotted, and am now saving money to continue my education to finish my associates and build to a bachelors in business (with plans to get my proper associates in culinary later on) But failing in school was far from easy, alongside hefty bullying, and hanging with the wrong crowd.
There are many things really, but let's just leave it there, and I'm proud that I am where I am now, alive, prospering, and growing towards my future.

There's a lot to tell really that I'm more than happy to share but.. Too much to put here in one post, would be an eyesore to read! So i'll finish off with a bit on NWN:

I started playing it because my dad did with his friends. I bought the game, thoroughly enjoyed it, and instantly leaped into the nwn online community.. Honestly, some of the best friends I have ever had and still have were made through neverwinter nights, and it provides me the opportunity to enjoy RP stories in ways that truly cannot be delivered in any other fashion.. It is an amazing story telling tool that I will utilize till the day I die, regardless of how many breaks I might take. It's been a strong coping method for my depression, and stress, as it allows me to escape reality and immerse myself in my characters a while, which has been amazingly beneficial to me. NWN really was kind of a godsend for me, and without it, I honestly don't think I'd be anywhere near the person I am today (And no doubt, a worse one), and while I will avoid the kind of remarks like "OmG nWn NiGhTs SaVeD MuH lIfE" I think it definitely contributed to enduring some of the worst times in my life.
